Scorecard
Track the FinOps KPIs of your organization over time, for commitments, efficiency, and allocation.
Scorecard shows a set of FinOps KPIs for your organization, with the trend of each KPI over a date range. Open Scorecard in the left sidebar, above the Spend section.
Use Scorecard when you need to:
- See how well your commitments cover and discount your spend.
- Follow the unit cost of compute and storage.
- See how much of your spend has an owner.
- Export the KPI values to a CSV file.
KPIs
The tabs at the top filter the KPIs by category: All, Commitment, Efficiency, and Allocation.
| KPI | Category | What it measures | Better when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Effective Savings Rate | Commitment | The percentage of the on-demand price that commitment discounts save on eligible compute and database spend | Higher |
| Compute Commitment Discount Coverage | Commitment | The percentage of eligible compute and database spend that commitment discounts cover | Higher |
| Commitment Discount Waste | Commitment | The percentage of commitment capacity that stayed unused | Lower |
| Allocation Accuracy Index | Allocation | The percentage of cloud cost that has a value for at least one allocation dimension, for example a team or an application | Higher |
| Effective Average Compute Cost per Core | Efficiency | The average cost of one vCPU-hour across compute and database services | Lower |
| Cost per GB Stored | Efficiency | The average cost of one GB-month across storage services | Lower |
| Legacy Resource Percentage | Efficiency | The percentage of resources on legacy or outdated types | Lower |
| Cost Optimization Index (COIN) | Efficiency | A score from the open savings opportunities against total spend. A score of 100 means that DigiUsher found no waste | Higher |
The commitment KPIs and the compute KPI do not include Spot usage.
KPI cards
Each card gives the current value of the KPI, a short trend line, and the change since the start of the date range. The color of the trend shows if the change is good or bad, from the "Better when" column above. If a KPI has no value for the range, the card shows a dash.
Hover over the info icon of a card to read the definition of the KPI. The tooltip also links to the FinOps Foundation KPI library.
KPI details
Select a card to open the details of the KPI. On a wide screen, the details open beside the list. On a narrow screen, they open in a side panel.
The details give:
- The description of the KPI.
- The Current Value, with the date of the value.
- The calculation of the KPI.
- A chart of the KPI over the selected date range.
Click Hide details to close the panel.
Date range and export
Use the date picker in the page header to change the range for all KPIs. Click Export CSV to download the values of every KPI for that range. The file has one row for each KPI and date.
