Install the DigiUsher GitHub App on your organization to track seat usage, Actions consumption, code scanning, and other GitHub spending across your org.
Overview
DigiUsher connects to GitHub by installing the DigiUsher GitHub App directly on your GitHub organization. There are no API keys to generate or rotate — the app installation grants DigiUsher the access it needs and can be revoked from GitHub at any time.
Organization Owner required
Only a GitHub organization Owner can install GitHub Apps on an organization. The steps below must be performed by an Owner.

All permissions are read-only — DigiUsher can never modify your organization, repositories, or their contents.
Prerequisites
Who Must Perform This Setup

What to Have Ready
- The name you want to give this data source in DigiUsher (required).
- If your organization is on a GitHub Enterprise contract with a negotiated per-seat price: the contracted price per seat per month in USD, and the date from which that price is effective.
Seat pricing is required for GitHub Enterprise
If your organization is on a GitHub Enterprise plan, you must enter your contracted per-seat price. DigiUsher cannot determine the enterprise seat cost automatically — without it, seat cost data will not be attributed. For Free and Team plan organizations, leave the pricing fields blank; DigiUsher uses GitHub's standard list prices automatically.
Setup
Open the GitHub connector in DigiUsher
Navigate to Connectors → Add Source → GitHub. You will see the Connect GitHub page with a two-step wizard: Configure and Connect.
Enter a name and (optionally) your contracted seat price
In the Configure step:

Enter a Display Name for this data source. This is the only required field — use any label that identifies the organization.

If your organization has a negotiated Enterprise per-seat rate, enter it under Seat Pricing:
- Price / Seat / Month — your contracted rate in USD.
- Valid From — the date from which this price is effective. DigiUsher will use this rate for all periods on or after that date.
Multiple prices can be entered for different periods. Leave the pricing fields blank to use GitHub's standard list prices.

Click Review →.
Review and proceed to GitHub
The Connect step shows a summary of what DigiUsher will do. Confirm the seat pricing line reflects your intent — it will read either your entered rate or Using GitHub list prices if you left the fields blank.
Click Connect source. You will be redirected to GitHub.
Select the organization to install the App on
GitHub will show a list of organizations your account belongs to. Select the organization you want to connect to DigiUsher.
Authorize and install the App
Leave All repositories selected (the default) and click Install & Authorize.
After confirming, GitHub will redirect you back to DigiUsher. Within a few seconds, DigiUsher will confirm whether the installation succeeded or not.
What DigiUsher Ingests
Once connected, DigiUsher collects billable usage data across your GitHub organization, including:
- Plan seats — seats purchased and filled on your GitHub plan (Free, Team, or Enterprise), attributed at the per-seat monthly rate
- GitHub Actions — compute minutes consumed by workflows, broken down by runner type and repository
- GitHub Codespaces — compute and storage consumed by Codespaces
- Code scanning and Advanced Security — usage of GitHub Advanced Security, secret scanning, and code scanning by repository
- GitHub Packages — storage and data-transfer consumption
- Shared storage — Actions artifact storage at the organization level
Security
What DigiUsher Reads (Read-Only)
- Organization-level billing and usage data
- Seat counts and product consumption metrics
What DigiUsher CANNOT Do
- Modify organization settings, members, repositories, or permissions
- Write to, push to, or change any repository or its contents
- Make purchases or changes to your GitHub plan
All permissions granted are strictly read-only.
Revoking Access
To disconnect DigiUsher, go to your GitHub organization settings under Settings → GitHub Apps (or Installed GitHub Apps) and uninstall the DigiUsher app. This immediately revokes all access. You can also remove the connection from within DigiUsher.
Troubleshooting
Installation blocked or returning an error on GitHub
Confirm the GitHub account performing the installation is an Owner of the target organization. Member accounts cannot install Apps, even with admin repository access.
"Installation failed" after returning from GitHub
If DigiUsher reports an installation failure after you return from GitHub, try the following:
- Check that the correct organization was selected on the GitHub install page.
- Confirm your account is still an Owner of that organization.
Wrong organization connected
Remove the app installation from the incorrect organization under its Settings → Installed GitHub Apps, then delete the data source in DigiUsher and restart the setup.
Reconnecting after an accidental disconnect
If the organization was accidentally disconnected from GitHub and you want to reconnect it, simply run through the setup flow again to reconnect to the same connector.
